NAAIM+ Sentiment Survey

Helene Meisler was a guest on the Bloomberg Odd Lots podcast on August 25, 2022. She told some Justin Mamis stories and talked market breadth and sentiment with Joe Weisenthal and Tracy Alloway.

Meisler discussed sources of sentiment data and pointed to the NAAIM Exposure Index which “represents the average exposure to US Equity markets reported by” members of the National Association of Active Investment Managers as a good source.

As luck would have it, their weekly poll started just before Pete’s brilliant idea of collecting the number of buy vs sell signals (generated by our own stops) for the S&P 100 and Nasdaq 100 indexes, so I was able to do some Excel magic on these numbers back to 2007. Boy, what a surprise!
